- Dorene Jarvis, 72,of rural Marion, went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2019 with her husband of 55 years and sister at her side, while at her home in Marion.
Dorene was born on Sept 23, 1946 in Fairmont, Minnesota to Robert and Mable (Trillinger) Peck. She married Richard Jarvis on June 29, 1963 in Hartford City. Together they would raise their three children as well as serve as foster parents to over 35 children.
She was known for her giving heart, love of reading, shopping, and getting down on the floor to play with her grandchildren. She was a homemaker, and known by many as ?Mom Jarvis.? She accompanied her husband on many youth group trips at Union Chapel in her younger days, and later spent countless years teaching the 2 & 3 year old class at Blackford Baptist Temple.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Jarvis, Sr.; two sons: Mike Jarvis (Lori) and Jerry Jarvis, Sr. (Paula); grandchildren: Richard Jarvis III (Cassandra), Craige Jarvis (Darian), Christopher Jarvis, Cameron Riddle (Sheena), Makayla Jarvis , Jerry Jarvis Jr. and Jerremy Jarvis; great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Loie, Terra, Olivia, Zayven, Gannon, Keylan, Alejandra and Amyllah; a sister, Norma Funkhouser (Phil); brother, David Peck, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Robert and Mable Peck, Dorene was preceded in death by a son, Richard Jarvis Jr., and two brothers, Robert Earl Peck and Robert Ronald Peck.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Blackford Baptist Temple 2252 N State Road 3, Hartford City, IN 47348 with Pastor Larry Harvey and Pastor Johnny Crane officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W Washington St., Hartford City and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Blackford Baptist Temple to support the Children?s Ministry.
