Wilma Maxine Corn, 95, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8,2014 in her Fairmount home. She was born on April 13, 1918 in Gas City to the late Fred and MableKirby. She married Fred Stephenson in 1936, and they had threechildren. She married John Franklin (Frank) Corn in 1961, and they had onechild. Her husband Frank preceded her in death in 1976. Wilma retired from RCA in April 1981 after 29½ years of service. Sheattended church faithfully at the Marion Memorial Tabernacle for morethan 20 years and was a member of the executive board. She enjoyedparticipation in the church "Sew and Glow" meetings and was a memberof the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Wilma was an animal lover and enjoyed gardening and bird watching.Well into her 80's she was a familiar site in the Fairmount area, asshe walked up to five miles a day. She was known for her crochetingand knitting talent. Family members cherished the things she made forthem. Many crocheted layettes have been worn by more than onegeneration of newborns and remain safely stored for generations tocome. Survivors include her son, Fred (Ardith) Stephenson, Grand Rapids,Mich.; daughter, Betty (Dane) Franklin, Marion; daughter, Linda (Lee)Niverson, Fairmount; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 10great-great grandchildren. Survivors also include her four sisters, Pauline Kirby, Jonesboro,Evelyn (Scotty) Scott, Guntersville, Ala., Eldora Gould, Lebanon, Ohioand Janet (Gene) Barton, The Villages, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Stephenson; daughter, SharolNun; and twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Kirby. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 inNeedham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. MainStreet, Gas City, with Rev. Mary Ann Freeman officiating. Burial willbe in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at thefuneral home.
