- Roy Lee Baskins, 72, of Independence, Missouri, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at the North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, MO. He was born August 11, 1940, the son of Frankie Dean Baskins and Chloe Imogene (Hunt) Baskins. On February 15, 1963, in Calhoun, MO, he married Marjorie Ellen Trolinger and she survives of the home. Roy worked with his parents at Baskins Sheet Metal, in Calhoun and Windsor, for several years before going to work for The Lennox Company as a service consultant responsible for the western part of Missouri and the Kansas City area, retiring after 38 years. He served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard and was also a member of the IOOF Lodge #187, in Windsor. Roy was a judge for the Regional VICA competitions in Heating & Cooling for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting for mushrooms, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Michael Lee Baskins and Joshua Scott Baskins (Sarah Jeane), both of Independence, MO; 4 daughters, Lisa Lyn Katsulis (Paul) and Patricia A. Watts (Ethan) also both of Independence; Lori J. Baskins, Orrick, MO; and Rebecca S. Baskins, Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Baskins (Tammy) Springfield, MO; a sister, Marilyn Young, Richmond, MO; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Baskins, Baldwin, KS. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and a brother, Jim Baskins. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., March 22, 2013, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Doug Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor.
