  	Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Tuesday, 20 August 1991 Roger N. Burdick, 71, of 3119 W. Faidley died Sunday, Aug. 18, at a local hospital. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Mr. Burdick was cremated. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the Grand Island Foundation. Mr. Burdick was born Sept. 24, 1919, at Grand Island to Clarence and Genevieve (Durliner) Burdick. He grew up and received his education in Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. In 1941 he moved to California and joined the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1952 he retired from the U.S. Navy and moved to North Platte. In 1953 he joined the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1964. After he retired he made his home in Grand Island where he worked for the city of Grand Island at the city garage. In 1967 he was appointed the manager of the Grand Island Airport and held that position until 1980 when he retired. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Saddle Club and the Liederkranz. Survivors include a sister, Betsy Wilson of Oceanside, Calif., and other relatives.
