Notes - Carl Mills lost an eye as a youth and was unable to become a druggist as he desired. He moved his family in 1916 from Stockton to Sonora, CA for the health of his oldest child, Dorothy. Later the family moved to Angels Camp, CA and lived on Finnegan Lane. He was a news correspondent and a business agent for The Stockton Record in Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador, Alpine, and Stanislaus counties. He was the Postmaster in Angels Camp, CA, from the 1930's to the 1940's. He also owned Mills Appliance Store in downtown Angels Camp. Carl was one of the founders in the 1920's of the Calaveras Frog Jump which was based on Mark Twain's tale of the" Jumping Frog of Calaveras County". Carl became the secretary-manager of the Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump. With his second wife, Bea, he moved to Sacramento where he was secretary-manager of the Sacramento County Fair from 1958-1963. Carl Mills died of Parkinson's disease and is buried with his second wife, Bea, in the Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, CA. Carl Mills received social security card #530-12-7825 issued in Nevada.
