Notes - David Thomas TRINKLE (1848-1894) moved to Sullivan County from a farm on East River Mountain, Mercer County, West Virginia with his parents and brothers and sisters. David Thomas and his sister Maggie were baptized at the Goodson Baptist Church (now First Baptist), in 1874.
He married (1st) Susan CROSS, she died in 1880 during childbirth of a son named John. David Thomas married (2nd) Rebecca HICKS, 1853-1929, daughter of Nathanial and Jeanette Elizabeth HICKS. David Thomas and Sarah TRINKLE were charter members of South Bristol Baptist Church, now Woodlawn Baptist. Sarah's father Nathanial was also a charter member of this church. Their oldest daughter Ida Belle TRINKLE CARRIER was baptized at Sparger Cotton Factory in May 1888. South Bristol Baptist Church started at Sparger Cotton Factory.
Thomas was a farmer as evidenced by an article in the Bristol News dated October 4, 1881, under Border Fair Premums, he was awarded .50 cents for the best Kershaws and .50 cents for the best Seinblins (white scalloped summer squash). Thomas TRINKLE died suddenly in 1894, taking a fever and never recovering, he is buried at Susong Cemetery in an unmarked grave.
