- Lacy Lyons Trinkle, 94. of 217 Giles Ave., Dublin, died early Thursday morning at his home.
He was born May 5, 1889 In Dublin, the son of the late Jacob Stevens Trinkle and Katherine Lyons Trinkle.
He was a graduate of Dublin Institute and distinguished graduate of Virginia Military Institute. He began hie career as a civil engineer with the Elkhorn Coal Corp. in Eastern Kentucky.
During World War I, he was captain in 308th Engineer Company. After WWI, he resumed the position of division engineer with the coal company In charge of the Wheelwright division.
He returned to Dublin in 1927 to go into private engineering with R. K. Wysor. He was resident engineer for the Appalachian Power Co. during the construction of the Claytor Lake Dam. When Claytor dam was completed, until his retirement in 1964, he was president of the firm Trinkle and Dobyns General Contractors. The company constructed high schools, elementary schools, for counties dormitories, gyms and classrooms for colleges, churches, factories and hospitals, from Salem to Abingdon.
He was mayor of the Town of Dublin for 12 years and a councilman for eight years prior. He was president of the Bank of Dublin from 1961 to 1965, a member of the Pulaski County Draft Board during World War II, a member of the Pulaski County Library Board and a member of the Henry Clay Masonic Lodge for 70 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Paulette McGinley Trinkle.
Surviving are his wife; Virginia Crockett Trinkle, Dublin; one daughter, Louise Trinkle Cook, Dublin; one step-son, W. B. Rorrer, Dublin; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles W. Lockerby officiating. Burial will be in Dublin Cemetery with Henry Clay Lodge No. 280 conducting the graveside rites. Visiting will be Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
