She drove dirt bikes, learned auto mechanics, authored papers and books, could sew and knit...She graduated at the top of her class-always. As a woman in a male-dominated society she has several "firsts" attached to her resume. Deb entered the US Coast Guard at a time when it was almost completely male. She was the one who got the honor to do the "saber at arms" upon graduating. Like her father, she was an expert marksman with the .45 caliber pistol. Deb also graduated from the Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA and spent time at sea. She was an excellent ship captain. Deb later put herself through law school. The only thing Deb failed in was finding a good husband. She had two bad marriages with men that shall remain nameless here. For all her strength and ability, Deb was emotionally fragile. She ended her own life. She said that she didn't want to die; she just didn't want to live anymore.
