  	Hobart Masters was the 5th child, and 3rd son, of Jacob and Luna Ford Masters, raised on the family farm near Waltonville, in Jefferson County, Illinois. His father died when Hobart was 14. Hobart worked on the home farm in his early life, then in the light plant in 1920. He married Ola Mabel Crabit in October 1921. They made their home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois for a few years and then moved to Danville, Illinois about 1930. They had children: Naomi, who died in infancy, H. Marie, and Virginia Tracy. Hobart worked as a watchman in Danville. The family relocated to Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California about 1960.
