"Snooks" Cockbum, 70, of Weatherford will be held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. in Whites Funeral Chapel in Weatherford with Homer Youngblood and Ray White of Hillcrest Church of Christ officiating. Born July 4,1923, in Parker County, Cockbum was a former Olney resident and attended Olney schools. He was a long-time employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He is survived by his wife, Velmatine Cockbum of Weatherford; two brothers, Charlie Cockbum and J.N. "Mutt" Cockbum, both of Springtown; four sister, Ala Kearby, Billie Wright and Mary Light, all of Weatherford and Esmarie Bemhardt of Poolville. He was preceded in death by brothers, Odus Cockbum, Roger Cockburn.Fike Cockbum and Ford Cockburn, all former Olney residents. Burial will be in Weatherford Cemetery under the direction of Whites Funeral Home.
