Snakes
Snakes. Mr. Arch. Jeffreys, of this county, informs us that week before last while engaged in his field, a negro man got after a moccasin snake, which took refuge in an old hollow log, and as this was not the first time a snake had been seen hiding itself in this log, the negro split it open, when a bed of thirty-five moccasins was revealed to the eye of the astonished negro who, terror-struck, fled. Mr. Jeffreys, however, renewed the war and exterminated them. They were of various sizes. Milton Chronicle.
