He was self-employed and attended the Veedersburg school system. He was a member of Sterling Christian Church and had been a life resident of Veedersburg area. Born Aug 25, 1883, in Founatin County, he was a son of Solomon Islie Booe and Hannah Taylor. He was married June 27, 1903 to Effie Mae Alston at Chambersburg. She died Jan 24, 1953. Survivors include two sons, Orville Booe of Hillsboro and Walter Eugene Booe of Peoria, Ill; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Hay of Danville, Ill, Mrs. Dorothy Rasmussen of Williams Bay, Wisc and Mrs. Betty Reynolds of Attica; 28 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren ; 3 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg! with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Coal Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. |

Booe, lifelong resident of Fountain and Montgomery counties, died at his home, two miles south of Alamo, Sunday morning at 3:30 o'clock, a victim of complications. He had been in ill health for the past four years, and his condition had been serious for three weeks. Mr. Booe was born on February 4, 1858, near Veedersburg, the son of John C. and Hannah Drollinger Booe. On November 9, 1879, he was married to Sarah S. Reath. Mr. Booe belonged to the Freedom Christian Church. He had lived on the farm where his death occured for the past seventeen years. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Dora C. Alward of Waynetown, a grandaughter, Helen Alward, who teaches in the Elkhart schools, and a grandson, Russell, a college student at Montgomery, W. Va. He also leaves three brothers, Philip Booe of Veedersburg, Solomon of Sullivan, and Noah E. Booe, of Crawfordsville, one sister, Mrs. Lavina Cory of Covington. The funeral will be held from the home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. F. J. Biesel in charge. Burial will be made at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. EFFIE BOOE ADAIR TAYLOR DIED IN HOSPITAL Mrs. Effie Adair Taylor, Veedersburg, died Wednesday at 12:20 P.M. in the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where she had been a patient eight days. Born near Steam Corner October 29, 1881, she was the daughter of Solomon and Emerine Underwood Booe. She was married to Justin Adair in 1902 and they resided for 15 years in the Thorntown community. He died in 1939. In 1954 she was married to Herman Taylor who passed away June 25, 1957. Surviving are two sons, Virgil Adair of Covington and Otis Adair of Veedersburg, with whom she made her home and two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Rhodes and Mrs. Ocie Briner of Veedersburg, a brother, Boss Booe, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Fishero Funeral Home after 7:00 Thursday evening. Services will be held there Saturday January 30 at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Wamsley and Rev. Buskirk officiating. Burial will be in the Thorntown Cemetery. |

JOSEPH M. BOOE has passed the Psalmist's span of three score years and ten, and at the age of seventy-two is still actively concerned in the business affairs of life. He was born in Fountain county, Indiana, on the 4th of October, 1828 , and is a son of Jacob Booe, a native of North Carolina, who when thirteen years of age accompanied his parents on their removal to Kentucky, where he remained until he had attained his majority. He then went to Indiana and was there united in marriage to Miss Nancy Henderson, also a native of North Carolina. His remaining days were spent in the Hoosier state, were he died at the ripe old age of seventy-seven years, his wife passing away in 1832. They were the parents of six children, but only two are now living, namely: Joseph M. and L. D. Mr. Booe of this sketch was the eldest and was reared to farm life, assisting in the work of field and meadow, while in the district schools near his home he mastered the common branches of English learning. Farming has been his life work, and has been profitably followed by him. In early manhood he was married on the 19th of June, 1853, to Miss Amandy Ayls, but after a short wedded life of three years she passed away, leaving two children, the elder being Charles E . Booe, an eminent lawyer of Frankfort, Kentucky, who has served on the bench as judge of the Frankfort circuit court for eight years. Mrs Emily (Booe) Winslow, the younger, is now living in Fountain county, Indiana. Mr. Booe was again married March 12, 1857, his second union being with Rachel Wilson, with whom he lived seven years. Four children were left to mourn her loss, only one survives, McDonald Booe , who is living in Indianapolis. For his third wife Mr. Booe chose Margaret Boman. His present wife bore the maiden name of Lucy Huchen. She was a native of Kentucky, and was married in 1866. Five children blessed this union. Those surviving are Francis Marion, M. M., Warren, Elzady and L. P. The daughter is now the wife of Elzady Carey Cloud. Mr. Booe has been a resident of Kansas since 1881, in which year he took up his abode in Cottage Grove township, on the south line of Allen county. He owns one hundred and twenty acres of land in the two counties of Allen and Neosho. Booe of Veedersburg; two stepdaughters, Shelley Rogers ofWest Lafayette and Tami Little (husband: Douglas) of Tangier; astepson, Jim Rogers (wife: Amy) of Bismark, Ill.; two sisters,Patricia Collins (husband: Stuart) of Bloomington, Minn., and LindaKeith (husband: James) of Wingate.
