She also informed me that Abbey Park Lawn (727-733-7167) was the funeral home in charge. DHD U.S. Public Records Index Name: John R Trollinger Birth Date: 13 Dec 1947 Address: 825 Arlington Ave N Apt 1, Saint Petersburg, FL, 33701-3650 LARGO -- A 43-year-old St. Petersburg man accused of the April 1999 killing of a homeless man pleaded guilty this week to a reduced charge of second-degree murder. In a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday, Willie James Pollock was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a Pinellas-Pasco circuit judge for the beating death of 51-year-old John R. Trollinger. Trollinger's body was found beside railroad tracks April 23, 1999, near 22nd Avenue N and 29th Street. Trollinger's relatives say he drank heavily -- he had an arrest record for petty theft and drinking in public, court records say -- but he sought help through counseling groups. During his sober periods, Trollinger worked as an electrician and plumber, according to family members. The two men, who both were homeless, had been friends. A motive remains unclear, though police think the slaying might have involved a dispute over a camp the two men shared that Pollock thought the victim might have destroyed. Pollock was originally charged with first-degree murder. St. Petersburg TImes Tampa Bay Published 11 Jan 2001 |

Page 125 At the close of the war, many qualified office-holders were denied political positions, and corrupt politics descended upon Alamance County, as they did throughout the South. Out of this atmosphere of fear and unrest rose the Ku Klux Klan. There were three divisions of the Klan, known as the Invisible Empire, the White Brotherhood, and the Constitutional Union Guard, and each of them had chapters in Alamance. Jacob A. Long headed the ten camps of the White Brotherhood and the Empire in this county, and James A.J. Patterson was chief of the Guard. Each camp of the Brotherhood had its own chief as well; these included Jacob A. Long, Jasper N. Wood, John T. Trollinger, Albert Murray, George Anthony, David Mebane, William Stockard, John Durham, James Bradsher, and Job Faucette. Leaders of the five klans of the Constitutional Union Guard in the county were James A.J. Patterson, Eli Euliss, John T. Fogleman, Jasper N. Wood, Jacob Long, and George Anthony. (Hamilton, J.G., Reconstruction in N.C. These names and events are found in official records of the impeachment trial of governor W.W. Holden.) |

41444 | I24187 | Trollinger | John Will (William) | 25 Jun 1887 | 27 May 1958 | 0 | Because he is identified as "John Will Trollinger" on his birth record and referred to as "John Will Trollinger" in his daughter, Josephine's death record, it appears that his middle name is simply Will and not William even though he is identified as "John William Trollinger" on his WWI DRC. Hopefully someone has conclusive evidence of what his true and full birth name is. 1900 United States Federal Census Name:John H Trolinger Age:32 Birth Date:Mar 1868 Birthplace:North Carolina Home in 1900:Graham, Alamance, North Carolina Race:Black Gender:Male Relation to Head of House:Head Marital Status:Married Spouse's Name:Fannie Trolinger Marriage Year:1886 Years Married:14 Father's Birthplace: North Carolina Mother's Birthplace: North Carolina Household Members:NameAge John H Trolinger 32 (Wife) Fannie Trolinger 35, Feb 1865 North Carolina; Years Married:14;Both parents born in North Carolina (Son) John W Trolinger 10, Jun 1889 North Carolina (Son) Thomas Trolinger 8, Sep 1891 North Carolina (Daughter) Ora J Trolinger 6, Apr 1894 North Carolina (Son) Charlie L Trolinger 4, Apr 1896 North Carolina (Daughter) Louise Trolinger 1, Aug 1898 North Carolina (Boarder) Jessie Teer 30 (Boarder) Charlie Garrison 27 (Sister) Crota Trolinger 23, Feb 1877 North Carolina; Single;Occupation: Washer woman (Brother) Charlie Trolinger 17, Jul 1882 North Carolina; Single;Occupation: Day laborer (Brother) Julius Trolinger 16, Apr 1884 North Carolina; Single;Occupation: Farm laborer (Note: Jacob Trolinger Nov 1852 North Carolina, White; wife:(illegible) Mar 1858 NC, daughter: Myrtle Sep 1880 NC are enumerated on the same page) U.S., World War I Draft Registration Card Name: John William Trollinger County: Alamance State: North Carolina Birthplace: Alamance, Alamance, North Carolina Birth Date: 25 Jun 1889 Wife and two children Street Laborer Date of Registration: 5 Jun 1917 1940 United States Federal Census Name: John W Trolinger Age: 50 Estimated birth year: abt 1890 Gender: Male Race: Negro (Black) Birthplace: North Carolina Marital Status: Married Relation to Head of House: Head Home in 1940: Haw River, Alamance, North Carolina Map of Home in 1940: View Map Street: County Road - Between State Highway 70 & 62 Farm: No Inferred Residence in 1935: Rural, Alamance, North Carolina Residence in 1935: Rural, Alamance, North Carolina Sheet Number: 30A Number of Household in Order of Visitation: 521 Occupation: Laborer House Owned or Rented: Owned Value of Home or Monthly Rental if Rented: 350 Attended School or College: No Highest Grade Completed: Elementary school, 5th grade Hours Worked Week Prior to Census: 48 Class of Worker: Wage or salary worker in private work Weeks Worked in 1939: 40 Income: 280 Income Other Sources: No Household Members: Name Age John W Trolinger 50 Lissie Trolinger 39 Welfred Trolinger 24 John R Trolinger 21 Vireginia Trolinger 17 Bennie Trolinger 14 Hellent Trolinger 4 Cornell Trolinger 7 Julen Trolinger 1 |
