46104 I2433  Ullmann  Peter  7 Feb 1843  13 Jan 1921  He was a very religious man based on some of his writings that have suvived in a small 7 page scrap of notebook. He felt that his daughter had married beneath her probably because of the actions of her father in law. In his will he tried to have the Drollingers excluded from any inheritance. According to the recollections of my father (Louis P.Drollinger), Peter worked as a laborer during the day and was a watchman at night. He accumulated some money by buying houses at Sheriff's Sale and renting them out. Peter had two or three sisters, one of whom married an Ullmann and had a son Fred (Alfred). Fred had a bakery in Sharpsburg on Penn Ave. He married a Lena Reuter. One of Peter's sisters was named Katherine, never married and lived with her mother in the house Peter bought for her. Peter had a brother Carl.Fred's son Alfred has two sons, one being Fred Jr.
Peter visited the homeland at least once as he is listed at Ellis Island as returning 7 Nov 1906 at 63 years of age from Bremen with thenotation this passenger is a U.S. citizen. A translation of a copy of the church book entry of Kirchberg near Lollar, Mainzlar, and Daubringen, "In the year of Christ 1843 on Feb 17 toward 2 PM according to reliable information Eleanor Ullmann the unmarried daughter of the deceased citizen of Lollar, Heinrich Ullmann, produced a son who was baptised in the same month and was named Peter.Witnesses were Peter Ullmann citizen of Lollar and Barbara Zecher in addition the pastor who performed the baptism and is undersigned :Friedrich Welcher, Pastor.

19 August 1876

1837 -- Rev. Friederick HEYER started 3 Lutheran Churches. Two were started in what is now downtown Pittsburgh. One of these was English, which I believe is FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, Grant St., and another one was German. The 3rd one was started in what was known as "Old Allegheny", now the North Side. This one had a very long name and was called "1st German Evangelical Lutheran St. Johns Congregation of North Side". This was the start of Lutheran activity on the North Side of Pittsburgh. This was the church attended by Peter.
