Dollie does not appear in the 1870 Census named as Dollie as one would expect if her true birth name really was Dollie. However, Sarah does appear as Sarah A. J.. They both share the same birth year of 1861. Dollie was a common nickname of the time. Even though Dollie/Dolly is also a common nickname for Dorothy or Deloris it does not preclude it from being used however one wishes. Because Sarah A. J. does not appear in any known subsequent documents found on Ancestry.com as of this date (7 Jun 2021) it would further support the idea that she and Dollie are one in the same person. Another piece of supporting evidence is Matilda's obituary where it states she was the mother of seven children. Born in Ogden, Utah, she moved to the Bay Area at a young age. After High School, she married a tall, handsome cowboy, Robert (Bob) Runnings. Soon after, they welcomed daughter Marti to the family. Bob worked for Tidewater Oil which required them to move frequently. Each place they landed, Dee always held a good job and enjoyed working. They finally settled in Potter Valley, California in 1965 purchasing their dream ranch on 40 acres. Shortly after moving north, she and Bob took a big leap into partnership with close friends Bill and Karen Crawford on a western store. The Tack Room soon became the place to purchase quality western wear and specialty, handmade tack. A staple in Ukiah, California for nearly four decades, when similar western style stores were coming and going, The Tack Room became a beacon in western wear. Residents from Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma Counties regular made the trip to see Dee and purchase high-end tack, saddles, boots and all things western. Dee was a savvy businesswomen and took great pride in her store. Many of her customers became lifelong friends and employees became family. It was bittersweet for Dee when The Tack Room doors finally closed for the last time in 2008. Dee was a mere 80 years young. In addition to the business, she enjoyed raising champion Quarter Horses and watching her family compete and win in western performance horse events. With movie star looks and a vivacious personality, Dee loved to listen to good music and dance with Bob. She enjoyed reading historical books, debating politics, playing Jeopardy and staying up late to watch the day's news. She cherished her small family and was the glue that held them tight. Bob passed away in 2010. Dee spent her final years under the care of Cloverdale Healthcare Center. A special "thank you" to the loving staff. She leaves her daughter Marti Runnings Fonsen, son-in-law Stan Fonsen, grandson Brian Fonsen, granddaughter Katie Fonsen Young, her husband Brent Young and great granddaughter Lucy Dee Young. Dee spent her 88th birthday and her last day with family, meeting her 8 day old great granddaughter, Lucy, on a beautiful sunny day trading one angel for another. A celebration of life will be held at the family ranch next spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dee's name to The Living Room Center, 636 Cherry Street, Santa Rosa, CA 95404. Robert served in the US Navy between November 1944 and July 1946 on the USS Haywood and USS JP Kennedy in the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Liberation Theater. He retired from Norfolk Southern Corporation on December 31, 1986 after more than 43 years of railroad service. His career began in Spencer, North Carolina in the Mechanical Department and was highlighted by working several positions at locations in Washington DC; Richmond, VA; Winston Salem, NC; Charlotte, NC; Chattanooga, TN; and Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Trollinger, who died in 1989, a sister, Margaret Barton, and a grandson, Andrew Leverette. Mrs. Trollinger is survived by two daughters, Janie (Wayne) Cozart of Lewisburg and June Leverette of Smyrna; two granddaughters, Kristin (Kenneth) Bailey of Lewisburg and Carla (Jason) McPherson of Murfreesboro; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Woodford officiating. Burial will follow in Hopper Cemetery near Chapel Hill. Even though Dollie/Dolly is also a common nickname for Dorothy or Deloris it does not preclude it from being used however one wishes. Because Sarah A. J. does not appear in any known subsequent documents found on Ancestry.com as of this date (7 Jun 2021) it would further support the idea that she and Dollie are one in the same person. Another piece of supporting evidence is Matilda's obituary where it states she was the mother of seven children. If Dollie and Sarah are one in the same then the count of seven would correspond thus: 1 Dollie/Sarah 2 Jennie 3 Margaret 4 Charles 5 William 6 Florence and 7 Harry. Hopefully, someone or some evidence will surface that solves this mystery. It is reported on her Findagrave.com record that she was also married to a "Mr. Crane". Hopefully, supporting evidence of that marriage will surface if true. Her birth name may be Sarah Ann in honor of Matilda's younger sister, Sarah Ann. |

She was born June 8, 1930 in South Bend, IN, the daughter of the late George H. and Helen V. (Mayberry) Watt. Betty was employed as a school nurse with the Fairborn City Schools, retiring after 21 years of service. She was a member of Faith Ignited Church and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow with the Fairborn Rotary Club. Betty loved the outdoors and took part in many activities. In early years she enjoyed fishing and boating with family, and after her and her husband became empty nesters they played golf locally and traveled on many golf trips, as well as snowmobiling and square dancing. Betty also was an avid card player and excellent pianist. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Flatter, Sr.; a son, Thomas Flatter; brother, George Henry Watt; and half-sister, Dora May Filing. Survivors include three children, Debra (Farrell) Davis of Fairborn, Joe W., Jr. (Angela) Flatter of Fairborn, Kathleen (Glenn) Baker of Enon; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Flatter of Fairborn; four grandchildren, Scott, Jimmy, Beth, Megan; five step-grandchildren, Anna, Dakota, Byron, Deanna, Tammy; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edwina Sutton of Trotwood; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 4, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E.
