Dudley who has been dead 27 years. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Lena O. Dudley, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Mrs. L.K. Morehead, Radford. Five sons J.S. of Cambria; W.W. and Warham of Dublin; Robert E. of Radford; Lawrence of the US Veteran hospital Terry Point, MD; and 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Dudley resided at Dublin until she made her home with her daughter in Radford. She was a member of the Mt. View Methodist church, Pulaski county. Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 pm from the Morehead homes with the Rev. Tom Carriger of Dublin in charge assisted by the Rev. W.I. Newman. Burial will be held in Dublin cemetery. |

Wysor, born November 24, 1813, was a lawyer and a prominent man, many years commonwealth's attorney of Pulaski County, a member of the Constitutional convention of 1850-1851, and a member of the Secession convention in 1861. He married Harriett Jane Jordan, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Jordan, of Newbern, Pulaski county Virginia. He was shot by the Federal troops, at Newbern, Virginia, in 1864, just at the close of the battle of Cloyd's Mountain, in which he had taken part, and he died from his wounds on May 26, 1864. He made a deep and lasting impression upon the people of Southwest Virginia, where he is still remembered with honor and affection. Two of his sons, H. L. Wysor and William Wirt Wysor, although too young to go into the Civil war at its beginning, saw some service in the Confederate army in the last year of the war. William Wirt was vice counsul at Cadiz, Spain, under the last Cleveland administration, and died at sea when returning home. |

Joined it at Jamestown and marched by Halifax, N. C., toCharleston, and was there when Ft. Moultrie was attacked by theBritish fleet. Then marched to Savannah and Sunbury. Bolling of the County Court to replace Joseph B. Buckingham. Buckingham had been appointed sheriff in 1869 by the general commanding Military District No. 1. During the war between the States he was one of the soldiers of the Confederacy, enlisting at Dublin, in Company F., Fifty-Fourth Virginia Infantry, and taking part in the battle of Cloyd Mountain and minor engagements. Since the war he has been engaged in farming, and is now following the pursuits of agriculture in Newbern district, where he has a good farm. He has been one term sheriff of Pulaski county, and was county treasurer one term of three years. In 1870, he was united in marriage with Mary A. EADS, who was born in Craig county, Virginia, a daughter of James and Elizabeth (AMMEN) EADS, still residents in the county of her birth. Mr. and Mrs. WYSOR are the parents of three children; B.F., born in 1871; Ethel, 1874; Jane, 1882. Any mail for Hugh L. WYSOR should be sent to Newbern, Pulaski county, Virginia. |

48698 | I4070 | Wysor | Joseph Cloyd | 17 Sep 1855 | 5 Sep 1919 | 0 | JOSEPH CLOYD WYSOR- commonwealth attorney for Pulaski county, Virginia, was born in this county, September 17, 1833. He was a son of Benjamin F. and Harriet Jane (JORDAN) WYSOR, and he married Jennie May, daughter of John and Emma B. (EASTLAND) GARDNER. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama, September 4, 1838, and they are the parents of one son and one daughter, born; Emma May, August 16, 1880; John Franklin, August 26, 1881. H. L. and W. W. WYSOR, brothers of Joseph C., in the spring of 1863, at the ages of sixteen and fifteen years respectively, entered the service of the Confederacy, as members of the provost guards at Dublin. H. L. was commissioned Lieutenant. Benjamin Franklin WYSOR, father of these boys, was a member of the Virginia convention passing the ordinance of secession February 13, 1861. He studied law at the University of Virginia, graduated with honor, and entered into practice at Newbern, where he continued to his death. He was a member of the convention that framed the State constitution, in 1850 and a man foremost in the interests of the county. He engaged in the battle of Cloyd Mountain, May 12, 1864, not as a soldier but as a citizen defending his country, as a man fighting for the protection of home, and he died of wounds received at Newbern by a detachment of Federal troops, his death occurring two weeks later, on the 26th of May, 1864. Joseph Cloyd WYSOR commenced the study of law in 1877, and was admitted to the bar of Virginia in 1878. He was elected commonwealth attorney May 22, 1879, and re-elected May 24, 1883, and still holds the office, with address at Newbern, Pulaski county, Virginia.
