Jim was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Potomac, Ill., the son of Homer James and Velma Drollinger Davis. He attended Potomac schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He had formerly worked at Paxton Wholesale Grocery. He had owned and operated Davis Electric and Refrigeration from 1962-2001. He had been an active member of the Danville Auxiliary Police and an avid bowler. Jim married Margie Lucille Dunning on July 2, 1944, in Danville and she preceded him April 1, 2001. Survivors include: two sons, Harry (Darlene) of Tyler, Texas, and Michael (Barbara) Davis of Oakwood; three grandchildren, Scott Davis, Melissa (Ricky) Shields of Whitehouse, Texas, and Darin (Pam) Davis of Shoals, Ind.; a brother, Reese Davis of Tamarac, Fla.; and three sisters, Helen (Chester) Weage of Eau Claire, Mich., Mary Belle (Paul) Boen of Alvin and Lucy (Quint) Slevin of Danville. It has been quite ajourney. He has returned to his Heavenly Father and sweetheart Verna.What a joyous reunion it must have been. Don was born May 4, 1929 toAllan and Nancy Drollinger in Roosevelt, Utah. He had great love andrespect for his family especially his mother. He was the secondyoungest of 13 children. He remained very close to his brothers andsisters. Don married Verna M. Shipley in 1951 and set roots down inthe Salt Lake Valley. He worked for Hinckley Dodge over 40 years untilhis retirement in 1990. He loved the Hinckley family and appreciatedthe years he spent with them. Don loved a good day of hard work andknew the meaning of a hard day's work. He tried to instill thosevalues in his children and grandchildren. He was a perfectionist inall he did. A job worth doing is a job worth doing well. He loved totinker and project. Give him a night's rest to think something overand he could fix or invent just about anything. Don loved his familyand cherished his grandkids. He would do any and everything for hisfamily. He was a very generous loving and caring individual. Don issurvived by his daughter Judie (Robert) Golightly and a son MichaelDrollinger. His brother Dee (Gwen) Drollinger; sister Velma Dart;sister Pearl (Ken) Workman; four grandchildren Dawn (Adam) Davis,Jennifer (Zane) Tyson, Derek R. Golightly, Austin J. (A.J.) Golightlyand two great-grand-children Madison L. Davis, Heidi M. Davis. He ispreceded in death by his parents; nine siblings and his wife Verna.Don had made the decision to donate his body to the University of UtahBody Donor Program. He hopes to make a difference in other people'slives through donation and medical research. The family also wants tothank the wonderful nurses and staff at Hearts for Hospice and HomeHealth. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010at 11:30 a.m. in the LDS chapel located at 9475 N Mustang Way, EagleMountain, Utah.
